30 years after his death and almost 40 years after that legendary victory, this instrument is my personal tribute to one of the greatest champions of all time, not with the colors of the car with which he won his 3 World titles, but with those of the car that gave him his first pole position and his first victory in Formula 1, launching him into the Olympus of the Greats.
1985. Portugal. Estoril Circuit. Ayrton Senna starts in pole position. His first career pole position. Seeing that grand prix again today gives you chills. In torrential rain he not only won but closed the second place gap by over a minute, lapping all the others.
And for millions of spectators, those colors, gold on black, that number 12 and of course the colors of his helmet, unmistakably linked to his native country, Brazil, are the beginning of the legend.
Mahogany body and neck, bocote fingerboard. Double single coil and a very interesting 6-position selector, made by NSF, which recalls the strictly manual gearbox of those years.
The potentiometer knobs are inspired by the rims of his F1 and each screw has been colored using heat, to recall that changing color of the glowing exhausts of F1 engines.
A special thanks to Stefano Nicoletti for the fantastic decoration work. No stickers, everything painted strictly by hand!
